The class 1 sound meter and in particular the Rion NL-53. is one of the most widely used sound meters. Professionals like to choose a Rion class 1 sound level meter because of its high quality and ease of use. By high quality we mean not only durability and robustness, but also high accuracy. This is mainly due to the microphone with which the class 1 sound level meters are equipped. The microphones are developed by Rion itself and meet the highest standards. Ease of use is another important reason behind the sound level meter's success. The simple menu structure ensures that the Rion equipment is fine not only for daily use, but also for occasional use. Furthermore, the data is easy to read and always accessible via Excel. A noise meter class 1 is ideal for noise measurements related to:
-
Building acoustics
-
Hospitality, music and event noise
-
Industrial and construction noise
Should you want to measure with octave and third bands, reverberation times, FFT analysis and/or waveform recording. Then a class 1 meter is more suitable than class 2. This has mainly to do with accuracy. In such analyses, professionals often prefer to work with high precision. Especially when it comes to low-frequency sound and tonal sounds. Another major advantage of the Rion class 1 sound meters is their legal traceability. That is, the noise measurements are legally valid in disputes about noise pollution or noise. This is not the case with all class 1 noise meters. Therefore, always ask for an RvA certificate of the class 1 noise meter and check if the meter has a publicly available international type approval to be found at the ILAC, this way you can be sure that your noise meter really is class 1. If a meter does not have type approval but does have an RvA certificate it can only be used under conditioned conditions (e.g. in the laboratory).
In addition to class 1, we also offer class 2 noise meters. Rion's class 2 sound level meters have almost the same quality as class 1. However, the microphone that class 2 sound level meters are equipped with are cheaper, so the accuracy is also not as high. This makes the class 2 sound level meters suitable for users who have just a little less to spend, but want a professional sound level meter. The ease of use of the meters is the same as Class 1 and is characterized by a simple menu structure and easy-to-read data. Class 2 is suitable, when slightly lower specifications suffice. The sound meters are used in occupational health and safety workplace surveys, among other things.
According to Dutch legislation, a noise meter must be calibrated before it is used for noise measurements. Sysmex has been calibrating sound meters and acoustic calibrators in an RvA accredited laboratory for over 20 years. An RvA calibration guarantees that your sound meter meets legal requirements and ensures that your measuring instrument remains in good condition and measures accurately. Sysmex offers reliable and fast service, so you can have a sound meter back at your disposal in a short period of time. Sound meters of all brands are calibrated.
