Abaxis Piccolo Xpress®
- 100 μl whole blood, serum or plasma
- Automatic calibration during every test - no manual input
- Centrifugal function mixes reagents and sample in one disposable disc
The Piccolo Xpress chemistry analyzer system is designed to be compact, lightweight, and user-friendly, allowing for seamless integration into daily laboratory practices. It offers convenience and flexibility, making it suitable for use in any laboratory setting. This fully automated analysis device follows a straightforward three-step process to determine all essential parameters and provides rapid results, eliminating the need to send samples to a separate laboratory and avoiding long waiting times. The attending clinician receives the necessary clinical-chemical values immediately, enabling efficient treatment planning and saving valuable time.
With the Abaxis Piccolo Xpress, laboratories can conduct routine chemistry tests using just 0.1cc of whole blood, serum, or plasma. The system utilizes patented reagent disc technology, enabling the simultaneous performance of up to 15 different chemistry tests, utilizing standard laboratory reference methods.
Due to its small footprint and cost-effectiveness, the Piccolo Xpress is an excellent solution for small hospital laboratories. It can serve as a front-line analyzer or act as a reliable backup to the main system in any hospital setting.
Operating the system is straightforward. Simply pipette the patient sample into the disc, insert the disc into the analyzer, and within approximately 12 minutes, the results are printed or transferred to a Laboratory Information System (LIS). The process does not require any operator intervention.
To ensure the highest quality and accuracy in results, the Piccolo Xpress incorporates on-board continuous intelligent Quality Control (iQC). This feature monitors the analyzer, reagent reactions, and samples, providing ongoing assessment and assurance of the analysis quality.
